Daily Use for Crepey and Ageing-Looking Body Skin

A prospective, randomised comparative study evaluated TransFORM Body Treatment against a bland moisturiser on the inner and outer forearms over 12 weeks.

Nineteen participants enrolled and 13 completed the study. Participants applied the two products to designated forearms twice daily. Evaluation included three-dimensional photography, skin roughness, ultrasound, elasticity measurements, biopsies and participant assessments.

At 12 weeks, the TransFORM-treated inner forearm demonstrated a 0.23mm reduction in measured roughness, compared with a 0.01mm increase with the bland moisturiser. This difference was statistically significant at P=0.004.

The outer forearm also demonstrated a greater reduction in roughness with TransFORM, but the between-product difference did not reach statistical significance. Measurements of recoil velocity, retraction time and skin thickness showed trends favouring TransFORM in some comparisons, although these differences were not statistically significant.

Biopsies from two participants demonstrated increased staining associated with collagen, elastin and hyaluronic-acid-related signalling on the TransFORM-treated side. These biopsy findings are preliminary because of the very small sample.

One participant discontinued after developing an erythematous, scaly rash on the TransFORM-treated arm. No other adverse events were reported.
