Vida Glow cites research evaluating low-dose Type I fish collagen peptides for visible skin-ageing concerns.

In a monocentric, double-blind, randomised and placebo-controlled study, 57 mature women received 2.5g of Type I fish collagen peptides, the same collagen peptides combined with silicon, or a maltodextrin placebo once daily for 12 weeks.

Instrumental and clinical assessments were performed at baseline, week eight and week 12. The study evaluated skin elasticity, firmness, thickness, hydration, colour, facial wrinkles, radiance and complexion homogeneity.

The published findings included:

Significant improvements in skin elasticity and firmness after eight and 12 weeks in both collagen groups, but not in the placebo group

A significant increase in skin thickness in the collagen-only group compared with placebo

Improvement in crow’s-feet appearance in 74% of the collagen-only group at week 12

Improvements in selected measures of skin radiance and complexion homogeneity

No significant objective improvement in skin hydration across the treatments within the published study

Vida Glow separately reports that its marine collagen research demonstrated significant improvements in crow’s-feet wrinkles, wrinkles around the mouth and skin hydration. These percentage claims should be described as manufacturer-reported because the wording and figures displayed in Vida Glow’s marketing material do not align completely with the results presented in the cited publication.
